Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s Wedding, 2025

Selena Gomez has worked in public since childhood, as an actor, a singer and a businesswoman. Her wedding to Benny Blanco, in a garden in Santa Barbara in September 2025, was notable for how little of it was on display. There were about 170 guests, a Ralph Lauren gown, a handful of photographs shared by the couple and a speech by Taylor Swift that remained private until Swift herself described it on late-night television.

The couple

Gomez and Blanco first met in 2009, when he was working as a producer, and collaborated for years before they were a couple: on songs for her 2015 album Revival and on the 2019 single “I Can’t Get Enough.” They began dating in June 2023 and went public that December. Blanco proposed in December 2024; Gomez’s ring has a marquise-cut diamond on a pavé band in yellow gold. In March 2025 they released a joint album, I Said I Love You First, which debuted at number two on the Billboard 200. Gomez has said she will not change her name.

The ceremony

The wedding took place at Sea Crest Nursery in Santa Barbara, among plantings rather than in a ballroom, on Saturday, September 27, 2025. The couple kept the day private and announced it themselves with a few photographs; Blanco’s caption read “my wife in real life.” The guest list drew from both of their worlds: Taylor Swift, Gomez’s close friend since 2008; Paris Hilton; and Gomez’s Only Murders in the Building co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short, along with Paul Rudd.

The dress

Gomez wore a custom Ralph Lauren gown, hand-draped in satin with a halter neckline and embroidery, and kept her jewelry spare: diamond drop earrings and her engagement ring, with no necklace. Blanco wore a Ralph Lauren tuxedo and bow tie. It was the same house that dressed Jennifer Lopez for her Georgia wedding in 2022, and a reminder that Ralph Lauren’s American classicism suits a garden setting. The reception

Swift gave a speech. Asked about it on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in October 2025, she said she did “some light teasing” about the way she and Gomez had dressed in 2008, the year they met, and that she had deliberately avoided mentioning her own recent engagement to Travis Kelce. “This is her day,” she said. Why it mattered

For a star who has grown up in front of cameras, a wedding that was warm, well dressed and closed to them was a statement in itself. It also showed how a very famous couple can control their own story: announce it themselves, choose the photographs, and let a friend’s affectionate account do the rest.

Borrow the idea

Marry among growing things. A nursery, garden center or botanical garden gives you a setting that is already decorated. Ask about seasonal planting so the beds are full on the day; our flowers by season guide will help.

Let the dress do the work. With a strong neckline like a halter, skip the necklace. Earrings and a ring are enough, and they will not compete with the line of the dress in photographs.

Announce it yourselves. Choose one or two photographs and a short caption, and post them when you are ready. Ask guests beforehand not to post until you have, and put the request on a small card at each place setting as well as in the invitation.
